Factories Act 1961 Covers all aspects of Health, Safety and Welfare of persons working in factories or a workshop environment. This act has now been superseded by the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974. Health & Safety at Work Act 1974. This Act brought the Factories Act up to date and is far more reaching, it covers all areas of work, Factories, Shops, Offices and Voluntary Work etc. Because of the nature of this Act, areas have been expanded by the implementation of further regulations to enhance the requirements i.e. The Pressure Systems Safety Regulations 2000, which explains the requirements of the H 7 S at Work Act for these types of systems. Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 These regulations were made under the Health & Safety at Work Act and implemented the lifting requirements of the European Directive - Use of Work Equipment Directive. These regulations cover all existing equipment, second hand or leased equipment as well as new. The regulations also cover all industries, even those which previously were not covered by regulation. |
